PREMIERE: CYRK - Automotive [Time Zero]

German duo CYRK are set to release “Dreamscience” - the first EP on Timezero, their new label founded in junction with Flash Fab and LAD. CYRK’s tracks have been played time and time again this year by heavyweights such as Helena Hauff, Dave Clarke, and Laurent Garnier. Hence, “Dreamscience” adds to a brilliant run of releases, to cap off an already stellar 2019. The release showcases the duo’s versatility, ranging from “CS70’s hard-hitting electro, to “Collateral’s grooviness, to “Monument’s emotional breakbeats.

They take no prisoners on the second track on the release: “Automotive”. It starts out with heavy, percussive broken beat. Sharp high hats enter almost immediately after, making it impossible to resist dancing. The whirring bassline then shifts the track’s gears before acid stabs push it into full overdrive, and the two continue together in helical shape to build tension. Around the two-minute mark heavenly pads come in, giving the track a retro feel; threading the nostalgic theme present throughout the EP. The synergetic elements take turns disappearing and reappearing until the kick comes to a halt and the energy drops down for the bongo breakdown. The entire ensemble then reunites in order for the track to explode one last time, eventually initiating its descent into a psychedelic outro.
