Best New Mixes from July 2020

July has passed, no parties… One of the remedies is getting lost in the Soundcloud rabbit hole and search for the mix that suits your current mood. In the last few weeks, we’ve seen multiple posts of last year’s festival recordings, which bring some really lovely memories and hope that we’ll be dancing safely together soon enough. There are some mixes on this list intended for home listening, of course, since most of us have been domesticated. Find your ride…

Lord Of The Isles - Beats in Space #1049

Scottish electronic music aficionado goes behind the decks for another beautiful music tale, this time for our beloved Beats in Space radio show. Opening up with one of the tracks from his latest EP (my favorite of 2020), LOTI then continues in his recognizable house and breakbeat style. Pairing complex rhythms with hypnotic melodies is something that Lord Of The Isles does so well. Expect to hear some of his upcoming stuff in this mix and tracks by Kimochi Sound usual suspects, Shine Grooves and Dead Fader, Larry Heard, and Vril.

Laura BCR - Patterns Of Perception 66

In the last couple of months, many producers and DJs have slowed down, lost their inspiration. But that certainly is not the case with On-Board Music Records founder, Laura BCR. I've been enjoying Laura's mixes tremendously. With her broad musical knowledge, each mix of hers is such a pleasure to listen to. Whether it's a techno ride or an ambient bliss, Laura's stamp guarantees quality. Patterns for Perception have gotten yet another germ in their catalog. Marvelously relaxing ambiance by Laura BCR.

K-Lone - Wisdom Teeth Label Mix vol 1

This mix has been on repeat in the last couple of days in our HQ. Wisdom Teeth co-founder, K-Lone made a mix exclusively from WT releases so get ready for that lovely bleepy micro house that has become a trademark for Bristol-based imprint

Neel - Inveins 70

Milan based podcast series Inveins continues with their exceptional selection of artists that they feature. For their 70th installment, Inveins welcome Roman techno-wizard Neel. Multi-talented artist and Spazio Disponibile affiliate delivered this tour de force techno mix that will fill the gap of non-partying. (hopefully, we'll be able to dance to something like this soon enough).

m50 @ Diane’s Hunting Club

After exceptional mix he made for our 'Sundays are for…' mix series, Kimochi Sound founder, m50 takes us for another mind-bending ride. This time the trip lasts a little over 3.5hrs. Eclectic mixes are always such a pleasure to listen to, never knowing what comes next, but trusting the DJ completely.

Uncanny Valley Soundsystem - Groove Podcast 262

Dresden crew behind one of the most consistent record labels in the last decade, Uncanny Valley celebrates its 10th anniversary with a series of compilation releases featuring music from artists who are the backbone of this phenomenal record label. For this occasion, Albrecht Wassersleben, Carl Suspect, Conrad Kaden und Philipp Demankowski, the founders of UV record label talked to Groove Magazine (German only, unfortunately) and made this fantastic eclectic mix that features the music they like to listen to.

Shielding - Bleep Mix #123

In the last couple of weeks, Shielding's new EP on Wisdom Teeth has been on heavy rotation (and I mean it) at our HQ. Swedish producer and DJ has been in the spotlight recently and had made a couple of mixes that are as enjoyable to listen to as his latest release. The mix he made for Bleep is a micro house journey that resonates with Shielding's style properly. It's the style that can be enjoyed equally during the late hours on the dance floor and during the car ride or downtime at home.

Lil Dave - Once A Ballintime In Cabinlough…

This is the mix that will brighten up your day for sure. Feel good disco house vibes from one of the masterminds behind Maeve Records, Psssh Records, and SL Spectrum, Lil Dave. Anyone who's had a chance to meet this Irish gent knows how contagious his positive energy is, and you can feel that in his DJ sets. Let Lil Dave put a smile on your face with this lovely mix exclusively recorded for Body & Soul's Isolation Station stream.

Roman Flügel - Rinse FM 16 July 2020

Mr. Flugel continues his phenomenal residency at Rinse FM with 2hrs of breaks, house, and electro. I especially enjoyed the first hour of the mix. Flugel highlighted the release of Lisbon-based Shcuro and played three tracks of his. In the second hour, Flugel goes a bit mellower and more on the house side with several records of his own and likes of Axel Boman, David Duriez, and Christopher Rau, to name the few.

Parris - Off The Record Mix Series 13

I guess the month of July has been the time of eclectic mixes at our HQ. London based DJ and producer Parris made this lovely mix for Phonica's Off The Records series. From hip, R&B to Pop and obscure Rock. If you're tired of untz untz untz, this mix will do the magic.

Molly - FH mix

Recit de Voyage founder, Molly has become a usual suspect here at Delayed, and it's for all good reasons. Her latest mix for Four Heads (FH) platform is a mesmerizing deep house trip that is a perfect match for these hot summer days. After the atmospheric ambient intro, Molly keeps a listener engaged with constant and smooth transitions between four to the floor and breakbeat.

John Talabot at Dekmantel 2019

The recording of last year's Talabot's set at Dekmantel is up online, and it perfectly concluded the month of July. Talabot's live recordings are always on point. Since this is the 'festival-type' set and not much time for intros and outros, enjoy 2hrs of cosmic energy by one of the greatest.

Beta Librae - Post Recording 007

Nowadays, resident, Beta Librae takes us for quite a ride with her live set recorded at Post Bar in Helsinki back in February. With this mix, the incredibly talented artist shows why she has been one of the most exciting producers in the last few years emerging from Brooklyn's underground scene. During the set, which is little less than an hour-long, Beta Librae blends breaks and techno with ease and creates the perfect soundtrack for hazy dark basements (oh, how much I miss those..)

Kiota - Music for…no hat no play

After their initial collaboration on 'Weird Melon,' the track featured on Traumgarten compilation, Melbourne based Kia and Iota join forces again as Kiota and bring some party vibes with their latest' Music for…No Hat No Play' mix. Breaks, D&B all the way, and a bit of trance for the end.

Donato Dozzy at Dekmantel Festival 2016

One can't be indifferent when the mix from Italian techno guru, Donato Dozzy, pops up in your feed. It's another mix from last year's Dekmantel Festival and another mix that snuck in at the end of the month to our list. This journey that Dozzy took us through is deep, atmospheric techno at its best. Dozzy keeps it in 'cruise control' throughout the mix, but there's never a dull moment when Dozzy is behind the decks. This mix will be on repeat for some time.

Justin Van Der Volgen - ZeeZout Podcast 171

Justin Van Der Volgen needs no special introduction. Legendary artist from NYC established his name with releases on labels like Warp, ESP Institute, Running Back, his own imprint My Rules and, of course, as one of the founding members of cult NYC band !!! (chk, chk, chk). The mix Justin made for Dutch platform ZeeZout has feel-good vibes all over it. A lovely blend of NY disco and deep house that fits perfectly for some rooftop dancing.

Amelia Holt - Baka Gaijin Podcast 120

Brooklyn's Public Records resident, Amelia Holt takes a listener for quite a ride in her latest mix for Dusseldorf based record label Baka Gaijin and their podcast series. The mix is an eclectic voyage through breaks, drum & bass, techno, and beyond. BPM will go wild in this one; that's for sure.

Derrick Vnuk - Lostcast 001

This mix has been on repeat for quite some time. My dear friend from Vancouver and the founder of Leave Us Lost parties, Derrick Vnuk, stepped up and delivered this timeless mix to kick off the new podcast series Lostcast. Since the last few months were mostly home-based, mixes like this one are the best fitting for my mood. I love every single track on this mix, well done, Derrick!

Powder - RA Live at Love International Festival

These recordings from last year's festivals popping up lately in my feed bring back memories of worry-free partying... Feel-good disco house vibes from Powder recorded at last year's Love International Festival in Croatia is a solid day time listening.

Horkheimer - Center Yourself 20

Robert Johnson's 'Center Yourself' mix series focuses on sets (exclusively made or from the club's archive) by its residents and regulars. For this month's list, we have a mind-bending deep techno journey by Horkheimer. Late-night vibes.
