Favorite Mixes from August 2021

These are the mixes we enjoyed listening in the past few weeks while driving, commuting, riding a bike and of course being cozy in our homes. There’s a musical tale for any occasion. Dive in.

Kletis - Diffuse Reality Podcast 071

The latest mix in the Diffuse Reality podcast series comes from a talented Czech producer Kletis. For this occasion, Kletis, who comfortably flows in different depths of electronic music while in the studio, delivers a late-night deep techno journey. The mix has a smooth flow and hypnotic atmosphere.

Walrus on The Alley

Basic Moves Records founder, Michiel Claus better known as Walrus, brings some proper deep house vibes in his latest mix for the Automagicalley podcast series. Walrus shared the idea behind the mix with us: 'For some months, I've been recording a weekly deejay session just for myself to get to know the new-new and new-old records I bought the last two years. What you hear is a one-hour cut out of a session inspired by a fun afternoon playing records at my friend James place, who is recently re-discovering his own massive late 90's/ early 2000 west coast house / (UK) tech-house collection. Summer good vibes and real house music that fits Automagically to me. Enjoy'

Dycide - On the 5th Day Podcast #139

One of the IO Records co-founders, Dycide, is back on our list with another tour de force techno mix. Exclusive for the 'On The 5th Day' podcast series, this driving mix is the epitome of peak time on the dance floor. This mix makes an ideal companion for your next run.

Innere Tueren - Groove Podast 308

Ergin Erteber, aka Innere Tueren, stole our hearts with his releases on Kann Records. The Leipzig-based artist made an exclusive mix for Groove Magazine in which he aimed to create a piece out of tracks that can stand on their own and not only when mixed together. Needless to say, the track selection is exquisite, and Ergin succeeded in his plans. Each track is like a chapter in the book that you'll gladly re-read.

Aaron J - Animix Forty Six

Sure Thing founder, Aaron J, set the bar high with his previous DJ mixes, and it looks like he has no plans of putting the bar any lower. His latest mix for Kia's Animix series is well-curated and perfectly executed 60 minutes of deep atmospheric techno. Aaron manages to create a smooth flow and atmosphere that allow tracks he used to shine in a slightly different light and make this mix an enjoyable home listening.

Andrey Pushkarev - Offset 067

An hour of peak-time action from one of our favorite DJs, Andrey Pushkarev. The set was recorded live at Moscow's club, Mutabor, a few weeks ago, and it's exclusive for the Offset podcast series.

Roman Flügel - Rinse FM August 2021

Roman Flügel's monthly residency on Rinse FM has been a great source of new tunes with one common denominator, a distinct and catchy melody, which can easily be one of Flugel's main weapons. No matter of genre, throughout his long and fruitful career, Flügel's always had a specific timeless melodic style that he successfully translates in his DJ sets too. The August edition of Rinse FM residency brings some proper synth-action ready for any given dance floor.

Adhémar - MFIS XXII

A gorgeous ambient journey by Adhémar for Music For Interstellar Spacecrafts podcast. The mix is full of peaceful oscillations that come to rest on the ears like a comforting blanket. This is ideal listening for the moments of self-reflection.

Carsten Jost ___>><<___

Dial Record's own Carsten Jost is back on our list with yet another mind-bending mix. For this occasion, Jost decided to shift gears into techno mode; and delivers a dark, deep, and rumbling techno mix made with a dancefloor in mind.

Hodge - Label Of The Month - Livity Sound

Ahead of the release of the highly anticipated compilation 'Molten Mirrors,' planned for the end of September, Bristol's own Jacob Martin, better known as Hodge, put together the past, present, and future of Livity Sound. The Bristol label that's been shaping forward-thinking dance music for a decade.

DJ Voices - Holding Hands mix 021

Brooklyn's DJ Voices takes us for an incredible, eclectic journey full of twists and turns in her latest mix, exclusive for the Holding Hands platform. Her masterful mixing skills and exceptional track selection make this mix 'a must listen to'.

Eugenia - Podcast Series 15

The latest mix from Eugenia is pure bliss. Made with home listening in mind, the mix consummately strikes a balance between careful sound design, melodic sensibility, and melancholic reflection.

Objekt - felt cute, might delete later

TJ Hertz, better known as Objekt, posted this mix a few weeks ago, saying that he recorded it while messing around at home and might delete it later. We hope he doesn't because this mix is truly exceptional. The ease with which Objekt switches through genres is one of his signature skills, and this mix is all about it. It's eclectic, energetic, and incredibly engaging.

Forest Drive West - ITPS 068

The London-based Forest Drive West has become synonymous with incredible drum programming in the past five years, which blurs the lines between techno, jungle, bass, and beyond. His latest mix for the Ilian Tape podcast is tour de force 90's influenced jungle journey. FDW will shake you up properly with this one.

Call Super - AIR 037

Not so much of a mix in this case, but a great interview that Emma Robertson (Air Podcast) did with Call Super. Get to know one of the most exciting artists on the scene.

DJ Python - Selectors Podcast 028

This mesmerizing mix by DJ Python for Dekmantel's Selectors series will evoke warm nostalgia and tender emotions. With its melancholy mood, the mix is ideally suited for a rainy day.

Aleksi Perälä - immersed mix

Finland-based Aleksi Perälä has become recognized for his approach in the studio known as Colundi. A tuning system that rejects Western musical scales in favor of a series of resonant frequencies known as "the Colundi Sequence." For the last few years, Perälä has been using the Colundi Sequence to create a startling amount of music—bubbly, beatific post-rave tracks. His latest mix for Project Immersed is a feel-good, light, and uplifting journey through techno.

Lord Of The Isles - Dusk Delay 002

Dusk Delay radio show cements its place in our list with an impeccable track selection from Lord of The Isles. This is what LOTI had to say about the August edition of the show: Inspired by recent scenes of people getting back on the dancefloor. It's filled with the hope that some long-lasting positives come out of this enforced shutdown. This mix has one foot in the present and the other firmly in the past - when times were simpler and social media wasn't even a thing (the elation and healing effects were still the same though!) So, let's put the phones away and go and get lost in the music with friends. House music all night long, say what?

JP Enfant & Shoal - RRFM 11.08.2021

JP Enfant welcomes Shoal for the latest edition of his Psychedelic Romance radio show. Great selection of new and previously released tracks from both DJs. It's an enjoyable car ride listening.

Patrick Russell - INVEINS Podcast 082

The latest mix in INVEINS podcast series comes from Patrick Russel. The mix is a journey through cinematic downtempo, electronica and leftfield. This is what Patrick said about the mix: This mix serves as a snapshot into my deep listening sets, which I feel are my purest form of musical expression but I rarely get to present these adventurous tracks outside of private gatherings and the odd stream.
