Favorite Mixes from February 2022

It looks like that universe is not planning to give us a break anytime soon. Constant pressure and influx of negative news that is happening around the world are taking a toll on many people. In times like this, music can be of critical help. Occasional escapes into different realities will ease our everyday lives. We compiled a list of the mixtapes we enjoyed the most during February, and we hope you will find a music remedy on it that will relax and entertain you. Mixes are listed in no particular order.

Francis Harris - XLR8R Podcast 736

The fourth Francis Harris album "Thresholds" came out a week ago, and needless to say, it's been on heavy rotation in Delayed's HQ. "Thresholds," a wonderful twelve-track sonic exploration, got a little "extension" with this podcast that Francis Harris made for XLR8R. Harris creates warm, melancholy, and tender emotions in this mix. He marvelously presented these emotions in his album, but now he did it with other producers' ingredients. It's exciting to see one of Brooklyn's finest producers and DJs back in action.

Sunju Hargun - RA 821

It's always a pleasure to listen to new music endeavors from Siamese Twins Records founder Sunju Hargun. Whether it's his unique productions or mind-bending DJ mixes, Sunju gives 'a new life' to traditional music and sounds from Southeast Asia by blending them with trippy electronica, techno, and trance. Over the years, that style helped Sunju become one of the mainstays of the underground music scene in Southeast Asia. This is what Sunju said about this mix: "The overall tone carries heavy influences from Southeast Asia, keeping it raw and tribal with old and new records being played at a wide variety of speeds while keeping a trippy storytelling aesthetic. This is very much my musical headspace this year, especially for home recordings. Included are some forthcoming exclusives from the Siamese Twins Records label and great producers from around the region."

Oberman - Outsiders: Nous’klaer Audio Radio Show

The man behind Nous'klaer Audio record label, Sjoerd Oberman, is not a stranger here at Delayed. His mixes are always welcomed with a dose of excitement since Oberman regularly presents us with some fresh tunes hailing from the vibrant Dutch scene, as well as newbies from his label. This mix marks Oberman's new monthly residency at Kiosk Radio. During this hour, Sjoerd goes places, and from deep and dubby slowly builds to breaks and trance. The mix features tracks by Nali, Aspetuck, Gacha Bakradze, and Martinou, to name a few.

Estarto Aurora live @ Sprinkell

An hour of a masterfully executed live set by Delayed's favorite - Estrato Aurora. The Valencia-based producer pushes the boundaries of deep techno with each new live set, proving that this magnificent genre still has unexplored depths. It never gets boring when Estrato Aurora sprinkles his magic over those drum machines and synths.

Igacorosas - Oslated Special Mix 014

Igacorosas is a new name that we stumbled upon a few months ago when hearing his fantastic album "Munou" that came out via Singapore-based Agos Records. The Japanese producer recently made a mix for our dear friends at Oslated. It's an interesting eclectic journey that keeps the listener wondering what could go next but in the best possible way. Another excellent mix for a road trip.

Nuno Dos Santos - Phonons Podcast 082

SoHaSo founder Nuno Dos Santos delivers an energetic mix full of twists and turns as a part of the Phonons podcast series. Nuno goes from deep atmospheric techno to Electro and back with razor-sharp precision during this 60-minutes mix.

Barnt: The Ransom Note Mix

Cologne-based Barnt is one of the producers that are constantly changing and evolving their style, both in the studio and behind the decks. There's no forbidden ground for Barnt, and that's one of the reasons we are always excited to hear what's new coming out from him. The mix Barnt made for The Ransom Note is an eclectic, melodic escapade. This is what Barnt said about the mix: Half of the mix consists of tracks by friends, five or so of them being unreleased at the moment. It seemed to me like something connects them, maybe it's because they are emotional and have a positive undertone at the same time. I based the mix around them.

Radio on Vacation with Sevensol

Permanent Vacation's podcast series 'Radio on Vacation' welcomes one of our favorite DJs, KANN's own Sevensol. As we are used to it, whether that's his solo sets or Manamana (with map.ache), Sevensol delivers an uplifting mix that visits different corners of House music. This mix is an hour of 'feel-good' vibes.

Tom VR - FMB Mixtape 183

Bicep's FMB Mixtape series welcomes Valby Rotary co-founder Tom VR, who made a proper peak time mix. Tom VR said this about the mix: The whole mix takes place within a range of 130 – 140 BPM and is dancefloor focused. I wanted to keep it cohesive and go heavy in parts. Plenty of unreleased tunes from me and my friends, and also lots of bassy four-to-the-floor bits that I'm playing atm alongside some older music and a tinge of techno stuff.

Uanamani and Hakk - Observatory 025

"Observatory," a brilliant 'double header' podcast series by Sungate Records, welcomes On Board Music's own Uanamani and Sungate's label manager for its latest edition. During the first hour, Uanamani showcases some of their influences, while the second hour is reserved for Hakk, who featured tracks by Carsten Jost, Overmono, and Leafar Legov, to name a few.

Nelly - EOS Radio

For her latest radio show on EOS radio, Mary Lake invited Rotterdam-based Nelly. She delivers a mix that gradually builds up from rumbling techno to trance and creates uplifting energy ideal for listening during your next workout.

Spoiler - Animix Seventy

I try to follow the excellent Animix podcast series as much as possible, and its quality consistency is truly fascinating with the number of mixes they've been posting. The seventieth edition of the Animix series comes from Naarm-based Spoiler, who made this marvelous trip-hop journey that has been on rotation here at Delayed. We'll keep an eye on Spoiler, that's for sure.

S-Pill - MNMT 321

The latest gem in Monument's podcast series comes straight from Korea's Jeju Island by incredibly talented DJ S-Pill. Related affiliate takes us for a ride through atmospheric yet energetic Techno journey that cries for some late hours on a pitch dar dance floor.

IT-XPO - Who for?

In his latest mix named "who for?" New-York based IT-XPO explores different corners of House music. From minimal and dub House to classic uplifting House, IT-XPO takes a listener on a fun ride.

Johanna Knutsson - ISM Frequencies #3

Johanna Knutsson created a wonderful mix that lays somewhere between the ambient and the cinematic. Its textural aesthetics and melodic sensibility make it a pleasant journey into which the listener can drift freely and create their imagination. A few words about the mix from Johanna: "It's a musical take on thriving in darkness, a suggestion of existing in constant melancholy and at the same time feeling comforted by it. These pieces bring to mind something so familiar and safe that cannot be described; the sounds take you on a journey to a place you've never been yet recognized. My hope is that whoever listens will have an equivalent experience. It's a tribute to what's sacred and spiritual, and interpretation of olden times, if you will. "

Gnork - Contemporary Scenes: Budapest

Boiler Room's Contemporary Scene presents Budapest. And when you say Budapest, one name always comes to mind, super-talented Electro producer Gnork. Gnork played peak time vibes that bounce from uplifting House to powerful Electro, trippy Acid, and beyond in this set.

Robag Wruhme @ Voodoo Village Festival 2021

The recording from Robag Wruhme at last year's Voodoo Village festival went online a few weeks ago. It's peak time, Robag, with his signature build-ups and epic vocals. You may throw a proper house party with this one.

DYL | #54
