Favorite Mixes from July 2021

The list of mixes we enjoyed the most in the past few weeks features mixes that range from relaxing ambient and downtempo to dance-floor ready journeys. Pick something that fits your current mood and let yourself go.

Lunar Orbit Rendezvous - We Are Machine - Afterhours 010

Gregory Ferguson, aka LOR aka Lunar Orbit Rendezvous, released a magnificent album called 'Faith/Reason' via Ransome Note a few weeks ago. The album is a mesmerizing ambient/electronica voyage that represents a shift in style by the Northern Irishman and perhaps something that we could expect more from him in the future. In the light of the album release, Gregory made the mix for We Are Machine and their Afterhours podcast series. The mix evokes warm nostalgia and tender emotion. It features tracks by some of Gregory's influences like Apex Twin, Four Tet, Brian Eno, and several tracks from his latest album 'Faith/Reason.'

Eli Verveine @ United We Stream

After a year and a change ago, everyone who missed the original stream (me included) can enjoy this fantastic mix by Eli Verveine. Eli explores many shades of House music in this set, from Classic to Deep to Micro, sprinkled with a bit of Dub and Techno vibes.

Aspetuck - Music for New Parents 2

Griff Fulton, aka Aspetuck, made a sequel of his recently released 'Music For New Parents' mix, a perfect continuation of the original. It's home listening in its essence. Griff dedicated this mix and perhaps new mix series (!) to all the new parents out there or anyone looking to unwind.

Antepop - Arch Selections X.2

A brilliant arch selection mix series doesn't seem to be slowing down. Each new edition brings a new chapter of wonderful, lush home listenings. For its latest edition, arch invites Inverted Audio founder Antepop who delivered 2hr long pleasant journey into which the listener can drift freely and create their imagination. In his own words: “This vinyl mix marks my first recorded mix in 8 months, my Technics had been in storage for way too long, but with an invite to record an ambient mix for arch and some recent new additions to my collection, I had to get them dusted off and spinning again. I dug out some of the finest ambient and downtempo records in my collection and put them together with a lone listener in mind. This is not for the dancefloor; it's to let the mind wander. I hope you enjoy listening to it."

Lord Of The Isles - Dusk Delay 001

We may have a new usual suspect on our list from now on. Lord Of The Isles has started his new radio show called 'Dusk Delay' on OpenLab radio. The Scotsman with impeccable music taste shares some of his recent findings, old favorites, upcoming stuff from himself and his friends. Expect tracks from Om Unit, Uf0, Big Ever, Shine Grooves, Crisrail & more.

Beta Librae - CONTACT

Beta Librae's latest mix for NYC-based music platform Contact is a mesmerizing eclectic downtempo journey full of twists and turns, making it very interesting and enjoyable to listen to. It's an ideal car ride soundtrack.

Estrato Aurora - HOCast #73

When it comes to slow, rumbling Techno, or let's call it Downtempo Techno, a few can match the brilliance of Estrato Aurora. Valencia-based DJ and producer stole our hearts some time ago, and he never ceases to impress us with his new productions or DJ set. The latest mix for HOC radio is Estrato Aurora in his best.

The mix is dark, trippy, and moody with an impeccable track selection. This journey does magic when listened to on headphones.

Sunju Hargun - Stamp The Wax - Self Portrait mix

Siamese Twins founder Sunju Hargun made an impressive mix exclusively of his productions for Stamp The Wax's Self Portrait series. Sunju's style has been shaping up nicely in the last few years, and this mix highlights that. From Ambient and Experimental to Oriental, Tribal, and Trance, Sunju knows how to take you for a trip.

Sevensol - Long Vehicle round 13

When it comes to uplifting, groovy sets, few DJs can create such energy as Leipzig-based Sevensol. Sevensol's mixes are always a great blend of new, unreleased and gems from the past. That recipe should definitely be applied more often among fellow DJs. Sevensol's Long Vehicle radio show is always fun listening and this month's episode is no different. Get your dancing shoes ready because Sevensol has some exciting plans for the next two hours.

Steve Duncan - Animix Thirty Eight

One of the masterminds behind the brilliant Patterns Of Perception podcast and event series, Steve Duncan brings some trippy vibes with his latest mix for Sydney-based record label Animalia and its mix series. The mix is an epitome of dark, late nights on a dance floor we all crave for.

Vlada - 014

This is a proper late-nighter mix by Moscow-based Vlada. Recorded at Moscow's nightclub Mutabor in June, this set represents Vlada's style that earned her international recognition in the best light. It's moody and quirky, ideal for 5 am shenanigans.

XDB - #123

I don't how many of you follow football (you know the one that is actually played with feet), but here's a quick trivia, Messi and Ronaldo are players with the most Ballon d'Or awards (the best player in the world). If there would be an equivalent award for most 'mix of the day' recognitions on RA, German DJ and producer XDB will undoubtedly take all the laureates. And there's a good reason for it. XDB's mixes are truly like music lessons. His weapon of choice is a track selection, and If you had a DJ wizard, that magic would beat all other magics. In his latest mix for Kyiv-based R.13, XDB deliveries 2hr mix that goes places, from Deep House to Dub, to Electro, and back. Get ready to hear tunes you never heard before.

Forest on Stasys - Orb Podcast 043

Danza Nativa label boss, Guido Camino, aka Forest On Stasys, is one of the producers and DJs that lead the 'new wave' in Deep Tribal Techno which is going through a Renaissance in the past few years. The latest mix from Guido is a moody dance floor smasher, a driving Tribal Techno in its best form. Here's what Forest On Stasys had to tell about the mix: "The idea behind the mix is to show the music that has influenced me lately in terms of labels and artists, I feel that the connection is in tribal music and the different ways that it was evolved and how it is interpreted by different artists." As for the record choices, the selection of the records flowed naturally, although I spent several days listening to music, I am fascinated by the work that these artists are doing, they have some timelessness in their music, they sound totally fresh."

Inland - MNMT 305

Ed Davenport, aka Inland, brings some old-school, raw Techno vibes in his latest mix, exclusive for the Monument podcast series. The mix can instantly teleport you to one of Manchester's warehouses from the end of the last century. Great flow and energy from one of the finest DJs from the Techno realm.

Nadia Khan - Juanita’s Mix 048

We are used to hearing wonderful, lush ambient mixes from Nadia Khan, but we have something a bit different for this month's list. Nadia made a mix for Juanita's NYC, made of a collection of tracks she's been enjoying lately that are more into the Deep House realm.

Mark Broom - Bleep Mix #200

London-based music platform Bleep celebrates their 200th podcast in style with no other than UK legend Mark Broom. Mark prepared a special mix made of the vinyl gems that he's been collecting since '89. In his own words: "I've been digging through my vinyl collection recently & I've amassed quite a few classics over the years & this was the perfect excuse to showcase them in a mix. I've also included one track from my new album Fünfzig on Rekids & an exclusive edit of the Underground Resistance favorite 'Jupiter Jazz'"

Axymt. - Oslated Special Mix 007

In the past couple of years, the South Korean record label and music platform, Oslated has become synonymous with quality in Techno and Ambient realms. Whether through their releases, or mixes in their podcast series, Oslated crew keep introducing fresh and exciting artists worldwide. For their latest podcast, Oslated welcomed a French-based DJ, Axymt, who's been a passionate record collector since 2014. Axymt delivered an hour of groovy, hypnotic Techno suitable for late nights on the dance floor.

Paula Koski - Sound of Stillness 008

When it comes to curation of deep, atmospheric Techno, a few platforms do it as well as Monument does. One of the masterminds behind Monument's curation is Berlin-based Paula Koski, whose latest mix for Sounds of Stillness is an ambient glacial beauty. With this mix, Paula created an ephemeral space between the Ambient and the Cinematic with a sense of isolation and soul-deep reflection.

Bas Dobbelaer - Orb Podcast 042

Bas is a usual suspect here at Delayed, and there's pretty good reason for it. Both in-studio and behind the decks, his style is well crafted and impeccably executed Deep Atmospheric Techno. His latest mix for Orb Mag is an atmospheric journey through tempos. From beatless to 170bpm in a little less than an hour sounds rushed, but not in Bas' case. This mix is perfectly planned out with excellent flow. It's a beauty.

Andrey Pushkarev for grainy

Straight from Moscow's underground, it's Andrey Pushkarev, with yet another dance floor-oriented groovy excursion. The mix Andrey made for grainy podcast is like a sampler of how a night in a club should sound. Even though it's an hour-long mix, Pushkarev takes listeners for quite a ride.
