Favorite Mixes from June 2021

These are the mixes we enjoyed the most during the hot month of June. Our picks cover a broad spectrum of electronic music and we are sure they’ll be the perfect company for your next adventure (even if that means legs up against the wall and chilling ;)).

Uanamani - Open Soul Session #29

Uanamani is Derk and Iterbio, a Madrid-based duo making sonic journeys through Techno, Ambient, and Dub since 2008. I got familiar with their work through releases on On Board Music, and it was love at first sight. Complex polyrhythms and rich, organic atmospheres have become Uanamani’s trademark style. Their latest mix is a contribution to the Lowless podcast series, and it’s the epitome of the style they’ve been carving out for years. It’s deep, dub, twisted Techno that is aching for dark dance floors.

Vrika - Culturalis 004

Fernando Blanco, aka Vrika, a member of the CALMA collective, is yet another talented producer and DJ hailing from the Spanish capital. His music is a mixture of hypnotic rhythms, ambient soundscapes, and organic textures, with a tribal output. The mix I enjoy immensely is Vrika’s contribution to the Culturalis podcast series. It’s a beautiful journey made of gauzy layers of melancholic drone ornamented with dreamy melodies, fine-spun textures, and delicate field recordings.

Birds Ov Paradise - Danza Nativa Invites 05

Each new release and each new live set we hear from David Sabel, aka Birds Ov Paradise, takes us to the uncharted territories of Techno, Ambient, Tribal, and Experimental. When someone knows their stuff, they don’t need a spacecraft to take you on an intergalactic journey. For this occasion (and it’s a truly magical one), BoP jammed with one piece of hardware and a sampler. We have a 40min of masterful sequencing, layered with intricate percussions that create a movement that constantly evolves and shines in true BoP fashion.

Estrato Aurora - Parallel Perception, Episode 19

If you follow our platform, you must be familiar with Jaime Romero’s project Estrato Aurora. His work, both in-studio and behind the decks, which rely primarily on analog gear and is influenced by ‘90s electronica, IDM, and Techno, have been on heavy rotation in our HQ. A few weeks ago, Estrato Aurora made another amazing mixtape, this time for Parallel Perception and their podcast series. The mix has a smooth flow, and it goes deep like a submarine revealing all the creatures that hide in the depths of Techno and IDM. This is another masterpiece from Mr.Romero.

Lily Ackerman - Arch Selections X.1

The latest mix in the arch.selection series comes from Berlin-based Lily Ackerman, who delivers a deep, moody, sonic escapade whose sound palette covers a broad spectrum of emotions. The mix is carefully constructed, intricately layered, organically arranged, and requires and rewards focused listening.

Lux - Ambient und Interieur 40

The latest installment in the Ambient & Interieur podcast series comes from one of our favorite DJs, Lux. Lux made a mixtape that is a perfect companion for these lazy summer days. It’s a journey through downtempo, ambient, electronica, and IDM.

Patrice Baumel - Volt Podcast 035

A handful of producers have ‘the ear and skill’ to make that many tracks, and remixes that rip dance floors apart as Patrice Baumel managed to do during his 20+ years-long career. Amsterdam-based maestro is known for his broad music knowledge and pragmatic approach that he masterfully transforms into a wave of positive energy during his DJ sets. The mix he made for Milan-based nightclub Volt and their podcast series is the energetic shockwave we need to wake up from this bad dream we’ve been in for the past year and a half. An hour of carefully curated progressive melodic Techno will prepare you for the parties that have been slowly but surely lining up in our calendars.

Dave P - Layer #262

Making Time founder and Good Room resident Dave P is known for his exceptional music taste and exquisite marathon sets. His latest mix for whypeopledance platform is a four-and-a-half-hour long transcendental experience that will take you places you didn’t know you want to go.

Amelie Holt & Albena - Pistache FM Takeover June

Brooklyn - Manchester connection brings some seriously good eclecticism in the form of this ‘double-header’ by Amelie Holt and Albena. Both artists presented an hour of carefully selected tunes covering a broad spectrum of electronic music that will please any music head out there.

Konduku - GiGi FM presents

Ahead of his new release on Spazio Disponibile, which is due in a few weeks, Konduku delivers an hour of his unreleased material on NTS Radio’s GiGi FM show.

Doctrina Natura - Deep Breakfast 118

The latest chapter in the Deep Breakfast series is a beautiful ambient journey by Alex Cabbalero, aka Doctrina Natura. The Spanish producer delivers a mix that creates a visceral sense of isolation and a penchant for shimmering tones and glacial beauty.

Molly invites Mary Yalex (Rinse FM)

With her latest album, ‘Sentimental Journey’ on Frank Music, which came out a few weeks ago, and beautiful ‘Mint tea’ track on RDV Music, Leipzig-based Mary Yalex was an ideal invitee for Molly’s latest radio show on Rinse FM. Mary Yalex and Molly deliver a two-hour journey which is the ultimate home listening. The track selection is exceptional, and I highly recommend listening to this show.

Citizen Maze - The ‘Wednesday Alternative’ mix

One of our favorite artists from ‘down under’ Citizen Maze is back with another astonishing mixtape. This time Adam delivers an eclectic journey that blurs the lines of the conventional ‘rhythm section.’ From Trip Hop and Dub to Breaks, Two Step, and Drum & Bass, Citizen Maze keeps the listener on the edge of their seat with each new track he introduces. Very engaging and fun listening. Hats off, Adam!

Cleveland - Animix Thirty Seven

It’s been a minute since we last heard from Cleveland, and boy, how we missed his wicked style and razor-sharp track selection. Cleveland’s latest mix is for Kia’s Animix series and represents his style in the best light. Seamless blending between complex rhythms and intelligent energy building is something Cleveland has become very well known for, and this mix is all about it. Cleveland is back!

Dycide - AE Drehmomente #037

IO Records co-founder, Dycide slowly but surely has become one of Delayed’s favorite producers and DJs of late. His take on Deep Techno has something special in it. With each new melancholic pad and each new intricate minimalistic melody introduced, Dycide brings new twists that make a perfect pairing with the rumbling grooves of Deep Techno. His latest mix for Akoasma Europe’s Drehmomente series is like a deep dive into the depths of Techno and Tribal. Throughout this one-hour journey, Dycide keeps the same energy level but masterfully keeps it interesting with melodic parts spiced up with shimmering percussions.

Young Marco - Phonica Mix Series 84

Summer is in full swing, and we need an appropriate soundtrack for these hot summer daze. The mix Young Marco made for Phonica’s mix series is the mix you’ve been looking for. [DISCLAIMER] It’s fresh and uplifting, and it will instantly make you get up from that office chair and dance through your next zoom meeting.

Horkheimer & Innere Tueren - Emotional Library

Yet another brilliant ‘double header’ on our list. LARJ’s own Horkheimer joined forces with KANN’s affiliate Innere Tueren for the blissful two-hour ride, exclusive of the Emotional Library show. If you need something to listen to while in horizontal mode, look no more, you’re all set

Alpenglühen #60 w/ F-on & Solace

For the latest installment of the Alpenglühen radio show, F-on invited Steve Livingston, aka Solace, a British electronic music veteran who spent the last three decades exploring the depths of Techno, Dub, Ambient, and Tribal. This five-and-a-half-hour music marathon sees two great selectors on top of their game. Fabulous flow and track selection will make your ‘home all-nighter’ pretty enjoyable.

Javier Marimon - The Meaning Of Time

The month of June will go into Delayed’s books like the one when its founders Irina Kotik and Gilles Wasserman released their first track under the Moon Patrol moniker. The track ‘Moofter’ is a part of On Board Music’s charity compilation which also features worldwide talents like Vand, Estrato Aurora, Nems-B, Shaded Explorer, Javier Marimon, Aucuba Replica, Polygonia, Laura BCR, and CORE, to name a few. This impressively executed mix by Javier Marimon features all the tracks from the incredible ‘The Meaning Of Time volume 3’ compilation.

Vivian Koch - AD93 (NTS Radio)

After her latest release, ‘Beyond Contact’ via AD93 a month or so ago, Vivian Koch steps behind the decks and delivers a marvelous two-hour eclectic home listening journey as a part of AD93’s show on NTS Radio.
