Favorite Mixes from May 2022

The outdoor season is ahead of us. Whether you’re a beach or hike bound, chilling on your balcony or rooftop proper soundtrack makes all the difference. Our list features mixtapes that fit different settings and moods, so dive in and enjoy the ride. Mixes are listed in no particular order.

Carmen Villain - Sundays Mix

Carmen Villain has been in the well-deserved spotlight after releasing her critically acclaimed album 'Only Love From Now On' in February. However, besides occasional radio shows, we don't get to hear many of Carmen's mixtapes. Carmen Villain's mix for Crack Magazine's Sunday series is a wonderfully eclectic journey. Villain encourages listeners to take a moment for themselves as they indulge in a set of "ambient, spoken word, woodwinds, and songs." You can also expect "unreleased tracks from forthcoming releases, recurring faves, and some very recent discoveries."

Move D @ The Lot Radio, May 24th, 2022

David Moufang, better known as Move D, doesn't need any special introduction. Move D is considered one of the most prolific producers hailing from Germany, with numerous gorgeous releases in the past three decades. His signature warm style with emphasis on organic instruments ages like a fine wine. New Yorkers have been lucky to listen to Move D on two separate occasions in the club and rooftop sunset setting in the past three months. While in New York, Move D visited The Lot radio, where he played this wonderful house mix that shows all the beauty of our beloved genre. It doesn't get much better than this.

Lord Of The Isles @ Skye Live Festival 2022

For the past several months, we have been enjoying 'Dusk Delay,' the radio show by the incredible Lord Of The Isles. But for this occasion, we have the recording of LOTI in action at Skye Live Festival. It's such a 'feel good' ride that you won't want it to end. Uplifting vibes for upcoming summer days.

ISAbella - Circoloco Radio 242

Marica's co-founder, Barcelona-based ISAbella, brings uplifting dancefloor energy in her latest mix for Circoloco radio. One hour of peak-time house music sparked with some trance magic will instantly brighten your day.

Ttyfal - KANNMIX 48

The latest mix from the Kann podcast series introduced us to yet another incredible talent hailing from Leipzig. Ttyfal, journalist, promoter, growing producer, and an astonishing DJ is one to watch, judging by this mix. We are looking forward to hearing more from Ttyfal, and until then, we'll enjoy this fantastic mix which is a true energy booster.

Aurora Halal & DJ G - MDC.273

The latest installment in the Melbourne Deepcast series comes from our fellow NY-ers and one of the mainstays of the underground music scene, Aurora Halal and DJ G. The duo takes listeners for a seamless ride through atmospheric uplifting techno and wonky breaks. The energy in the mix is excellent, never being 'in your face but keeping things moving at a proper pace.

Diskonnected - Truancy Volume 294

One of the masterminds behind the phenomenal Taiwan-based music platform Smoke Machine, Diskonnected is the latest addition to the well-curated Truancy podcast series. Even though Smoke Machine is a synonym for deep, hypnotic techno, for this occasion, Diskonnected takes us for a ride made of rare 90's house gems.

Sunju Hargun - Outsiders: More Rice @ Kiosk Radio, May 28th, 2022

During his last European tour, Sunju Hargun visited Brussels-based Kiosk Radio, where he played this mind-bending mix made of deep, hypnotic, and progressive cuts.

Rey Colino - EOS Residency, May 27th, 2022

One of our favorite DJs, Kalahari Oyster Cult founder Rey Colino, started his new radio show on EOS Radio. While we are used to listening to dancefloor-oriented mixes from Colino, this mix explores more downtempo, laid-back, backroom vibes. Brilliant track selection, as always.

Yu Su - Dekmantel Podcast 386

This is a very interesting eclectic journey by Vancouver-based Yu Su for the Dekmantel podcast series. The pace is incredible in this mix, and with constant mood changes, Yu Su flawlessly travels through different genres without 'skipping a beat. An impressive contribution to Dekmantel's podcast series.

Ciel - RA.832

Toronto-based Cindy Li, aka Ciel, is not a stranger here at Delayed. Her mixes are usually energetic dance floor-oriented journeys that explore different angles of house and breaks. Her latest contribution to RA's podcast series continues the story in the same manner. This is what Ciel Said about the mix: The funny thing about this mix is that I actually caught Covid-19 just when I first started pulling music for it. As such, I was really limited on where I could record this while self-isolating and I don't personally own CDJs at home. I wanted this mix to represent the full spectrum of a Ciel club set and decided based on the physical limitations I should put the mix together in Ableton. Before this I had only ever made one mix in Ableton, but after two years of lockdowns, when I didn't do much else except work in Ableton every day, I relished the opportunity to get really granular with the mix and take advantage of the tools I had to really go the distance with it. Back in uni when I first became interested in DJing and dance music, my absolute favorite mix was She's A Dancing Machine by Magda. I had always wanted to make a mix that was more of a collage with really quick transitions than a traditional mix. So that was really the idea behind it.

Cleveland - Origin Tapes 062

Cleveland's latest contribution to Origins Sound's podcast series is yet another perfectly executed mix that flawlessly moves from off-kilter leftfield house to breaks and back. It is an energetic journey that keeps the listener engaged with constant mood changes, something that Cleveland has become known for.

ovïd - CVMIX002

In the light of his beautiful release 'everything changes, nothing perishes' on Captured Visions, UK-based ovïd delivers an hour-long ambient journey made of the subdued and delicate aural constructions with fine textural filigree.

Sevensol - This is Your Time vol 22

There's never a dull mix from Kann co-founder Sevensol. Sevensol's mixes are always a joy to listen to, with the excellent track selection. This mix, specifically, exclusive for Robert Johnson's 'This is your time' radio show is on a slower side of the spectrum than we usually hear from Sevensol, but with the same razor-sharp precision when it comes to track selections. This is an ideal car ride listening.

Kia - Rooftop StunMix 01

The new Melbourne-based podcast series 'Stunmix' by Rooftop kicks things off in style with one of our favorites, Kia. Kia takes us for a beautiful two-hour journey through atmospheric drum&bass and leftfield electronica.

Mattheis - Operator Radio 08

The Rotterdam-based producer and DJ Mattheis never cease to amaze us with his mixes and productions. The latest mix that he played at Operator Radio is no different. The blend of hypnotic techno, dancefloor-oriented leftfield electronica, and trippy breaks is a recipe that chef Mattheis has prepared today.

upsammy x Radio SUNNEI

Incredibly well-paced mix from one of our favs, upsammy. In the past few years, upsammy's style has revolved around off-kilter electronica, IDM, and UK bass, and this mix shows that in the best possible light. Seamless transitions make this mix such a pleasure to listen to.

K-Lone & Facta - Wisdom Teeth Radio Show, May 7th, 2022

It's always a joy to listen to the Wisdom Teeth radio show. Its founders, K-Lone and Facta, are among the best when it comes to track selections. This two-hour-long show travels through dub, lush breaks, and hazy house and is your ideal partner for a bike ride.

Soela - United We Rise Podcast Nr.121

Dial affiliate, Berlin-based Soela delivered a wonderfully deep, dubby house mix for the United We Stand podcast series. Soela's undeniable talent for storytelling when behind the decks comes to light once again with no 'weak link' in the mix and flow that keeps the listener's attention from the beginning to the end.

Christopher Ledger - Harmony Rec. Podcast

The latest addition to a lovely Harmony Rec podcast series comes from CL series founder Christopher Ledger whose talent didn't get unnoticed on this side of the pond. Ledger manages to create unique hypnotic tales behind the decks and in the studio with spine-tingling sounds and haunting melodies. This mix is, simply put - a beautiful ride that keeps on giving with each new track fading in.
