Favorite Mixes from October 2022

October's list is influenced by festivals, some that we experienced during the summer, some in October... Sets from DJs that keep the ball rolling and push the bar higher with each new set. You'll find journeys that go from obscure ambient to rave, journeys that explore deep and dark corners of electronic music, and journeys that will put a smile on your face.

Bas Dobbelaer & Vand - RRFM ADE 19.October 2022

One of our favorite artists from the vibrant Amsterdam electronic music scene, Bas Dobbelaer and Vand, did some b2b magic for Radio Radio's ADE special. A little shy than an hour, the set is filled with trippy percs and excellent sound design powered by the groove that changes its face every so often.

Molly - Groove Magazine 356

One of the publications covering electronic music more or less since its beginnings, Groove Magazine has got a real gem in its podcast series. The master of storytelling, RDV label boss Molly, created an elegant journey that takes a listener through depths of house and electronica.

Orion - It Comes in Waves / Mixtape Discos Movimiento #23

The Milan-based Orion are back with another excellent mix that explores the depths of lush ambient, house, and techno with razor-sharp precision. Great storytelling and track selection from our favorite Italian duo.

Vân Anh @ Paral.lel Festival 2022

A few days ago, the Dutch DJ Vân Anh shared the recording of her set from this year's Paral.lel Festival. Vân Anh 'jumped in' instead of Peter Van Hoesen, who couldn't perform due to COVID. Vân Anh grabbed the opportunity with both hands to deliver the set, a true energizer that, in moments, becomes euphoric but never loses its cool.

Marie Davidson - Crack MIx 471

Montreal-based Marie Davidson created an energetic and unique atmosphere in her latest mix for Crack Magazine. Opening the mix with the edit of Cher's 'Believe' and then building on that with powerful electro and hard techno can mean only one thing - fun!

Anthony Linell Opening Set at Under Bron, February 2020

Northern Electronics' own Anthony Linell presents 'the art of opening sets' with the recording he shared a few weeks ago. The set was recorded at Under Bron in Stockholm before Mathew Jonson in February 2020, and it's everything you want to hear from the 'warm up' DJ - patience, good programming, and, most important - immaculate track selection.

Sa Pa - Sure Thing 116

Recordings from our favorite festivals keep popping up, and we couldn't be happier. Our dear friends at Sure Thing host this mind-bending mix from Sa Pa, recorded at this year's Paral.lel festival. The set fluctuates from drone ambient to techno in the best of fashion.

Edward at Outro Lado (Waking Life ‘22)

Another festival close to our hearts, Waking Life, published several sets from this year's edition, so bear with us while we cover some of them. Edward, a Giegling stalwart, delivered one of the sets to remember at the Outro Lado stage, and we are over the moon that it is available to listen to it online. During these two and a half hours, Edward goes from deep house to quirky tech house and beyond with such ease creating a very familiar hypnotic vibe when he's behind the decks.

Donato Dozzy - closing set at The Labyrinth 2014

A bit of a blast from the past, anyone? The release date is the least important thing when it comes to music that Donato Dozzy plays. The set from 2014, when Donato closed The Labyrinth festival in Japan, was published recently to celebrate 20 years of making the festival. The festival decided to post ten sets from the past ten years that document the history of its operations. Timeless set by one of the best DJs in the game will take your breath away.

The set features some old tracks we are familiar with, but it's mostly made of new, unreleased stuff and live jamming. Well done, Fred!

Dorisburg and Efraim Kent (hybrid set) at Monument Festival 2022

Oh my, how much we missed listening to Dorisburg's set! The recording of his hybrid set with fellow Tikita Records affiliate Efraim Kent that was performed at this year's Monument Festival is as hypnotic as you think it is. The rumbling groove layered with intricate percs and trippy synths alters your mind for 3 hrs. That summarizes it pretty well.
