PREMIERE: Lawrence - Stargazer [Smallville]
Today’s premiere lands squarely on the shoulders of Peter Kersten aka Lawrence. Our long-term love affair with his work hasn’t changed a bit through the years, as his music is always in the crates. Additionally to see his latest as a return to the legendary Smallville, only good things must await.
In its entirety, the Gravity Hill EP encompasses all that we’ve come to love about Lawrences’ work, the wobbly bass lines, ethereal floaty moments, all wrapped in a minimal, pristine percussion package. The groove, the essence, leads to wonderful moments both on and off the dancefloor. Subtly is the name of this game.
Stargazer rounds out the EP which, as the label states, shifts back to a more straight, dance floor oriented feel via a twitchy acid bass, circling resonant synth licks, hypnotic textures and a swinging drum groove. Definitely one for those early morning vibes, as the sun rises on another day and the people party on.
