Favorite Mixes from November 2023

November was an exceptional month when it came to mixes. From the magnetic vibes of Mostra, Waking Life, Paral.lel, Draimoolen, and Rural festivals to the curated magic of radio shows and podcasts; these twenty mixes unfolded as personal music tales crafted by our favorite DJs. Beyond mere playlists, they encapsulate the essence of a year where music brought us together, inviting us to relive the magic of ever-evolving electronic music.

Garçon b2b Agonis at Paral.lel Festival 2023

Friday's closing set at this year's Paral.lel Festival by Amenthia Records' Garçon and Agonis is the set that blew us away while dancing our asses off in a beautiful setting of Pyrenees mountains. It's the set we've been telling about everyone who asked us how the festival was. Before we pressed play to listen to this recording, there was a certain dose of reservation if we should listen to it again and perhaps lose the magic engraved in our memory (it happens sometimes), but this mix is bulletproof. The polyrhythmic mastery by the duo, who was radiating good vibes from the DJ booth that night, should be on everyone's 'must listen' list. This mix is ahead of its time, and we are happy we had an opportunity to dance to it when it happened. Hats off Garçon and Agonis.

Dino Sabatini - Omonimo LIVE at Mostra Festival 2023

It was a beautiful sunny afternoon in Barcelona, and listening to this live set from the one and only Dino Sabatini felt like 'too good to be true.' Smooth, shamanic, and hypnotic, this set brings all the feels from what turned out to be one of the best days (musically) on the dancefloor at any of the festivals we attended this year.

Valentino Mora - Modest Podcast 004

It's been a minute since we heard the new Valentino Mora set, so the excitement was real when the recording exclusive to the Tokyo-based Modest podcast popped up in our feed. There's no dull moment in this 150-minute-long set, where Mora expertly navigates through different corners of techno, keeping the pace steady and driving.

Timnah - Komorebi

The latest mix by Basel-based Timnah is an awe-inspiring music tale as beautiful as its name, which in Japanese means "sunlight filtering through trees." If you happen to be in the forest when sunlight filters through trees, you know how magical that can look. This mix is perfectly paced and made of fresh, intricate sounds that blur the lines between the genres and showcase upcoming material from the array of talented producers who are well-known to Delayed. In Timnah's words: “This mix is a very personal thing for me and it is so close to my heart that I want to make it public for all the people out there. There is a lot of emotional work behind this 2 1/2h. musically, In all my years, I’ve never dedicated myself so intensely to one thing. it was really a beautiful experience and gave me a lot of joy. I would also like to thank all the producers, writers & the lovely Solveig who gave this one track a voice. Without you, it would never have become like this!”

Lychee - Deep Breakfast Series

We are always excited to hear a new set from one of our favorite local DJs, Lychee. This time, Lychee contributed a marvelous mix for the beloved Deep Breakfast Series. An hour-long set is eclectic and eerie, and it worked wonders as a soundtrack for a gloomy, cold morning walk in Prospect Park.

Molly b2b Fred P at Outro Lado, Waking Life 2023

What a lovely flashback to one of our favorite sets from WL. Even though this was the first time they performed together, Molly and Fred P "didn't miss a beat" during their set. It was fun and groovy, with positive vibes bursting from the packed dance floor. This is one of the sets that gets "take me back" sticker 🙂 . A must-listen for house music heads.

Laima Adelaide - The Memoir, Page 113

It doesn't get more 'deep and hypnotic' when it comes to the techno genre than this set by Stuttgart-based Laima Adelaide. We enjoyed listening to Laima's fabulous live set at this year's Mostra festival, and the Memoir set is a perfect continuation of her exploration of deep techno realms.

Launaea - Oslated Special Mix 038

Colombian producer and DJ Launaea joins the well-curated Oslated podcast series. The founder of "From A Lost Place" takes us on a ride through depths of dub techno with a sprinkle of deep house and electro. Shy of an hour, this mix is ideal for day listening.

Imaginary Softwoods at Bright Patterns, The Lot Radio, November 9, 2023

Wonderfully curated by Vicki Siolos, Bright Patterns, a radio show on The Lot Radio, celebrates its fourth anniversary with an extraordinary mix by Imaginary Softwoods. A mesmerizing, eclectic music tale that evokes warm nostalgia, tender emotion, and deep reflection fits 'like a glove' for moments of solitude.

Pjenné - Inveins 103

The latest Inveins podcast is a beautiful celebration of a beloved drum and bass genre sprinkled with IDM and downtempo, mixed to perfection by Melbourne-based Pjenné. Inspired by ASC's 'Deep Space' mix series, the mix highlights the true beauty of atmospheric drum & bass, which sounds equally good on your headphones and the dance floor.

Arkajo (live) @ Trädgården

Aniara's Arkajo graced us with a rare recording of his live set at Stockholm's Trädgården. Over the years, Arkajo's artistic output has become synonymous with everything deep and tribal when speaking about techno and UK breaks. Gorgeously groovy from start to finish, this mix is a fantastic workout partner.

HVL - Zenaari Mix 007

Tbilisi-based producer HVL has been one of the favorites of our editorial team for ages now. His latest mix for Bassiani's "Zenaari" series focused on experimental and electroacoustic music is a beautiful eclectic sonic journey that requires and rewards thoughtful listening.

Aspetuck -  REC-11-02-23 (100% Unreleased)

One of the co-founders of our label Never Late, Griff Fulton, aka Aspetuck, is one of the most prolific producers we know. After releasing a fabulous album, "Early Color," as an inaugural release on Never Late, Aspetuck self-released an eight-track mini album, resulting from recent experimentation with modular gear from his studio. Aspetuck also released this mesmerizing mix to accompany the release, which is made of 100% unreleased stuff and features 21 new tracks. Dive into the Aspetuck world of beautiful melodies and intricate percussions.

GiGi FM - XLR8R Podcast 826

In light of her recent release "Kiwi Synthesis Diary Vol. 2," which marks the start of the new record label "Sea~rène," GiGi FM graced us with a "tour de force" techno mix that was recorded at the Rural Festival in Japan a few months ago. It's driving and psychedelic, kinda ideal sounding for an outdoor festival.

Jake Muir - Bathhouse Blues Vol.3

"Bathhouse Blues Vol.3" is simply a beautiful ambient escapade by Jake Muir, which feels like a warm and inviting quiescence of time as the lush, shrouded, and remotely melancholic balance of careful sound design evokes warm nostalgia and tender emotions.

Lynne - Lowless invite Lynne - 17 Novembre 2023

Tokyo-based Lynne stole our hearts at this year's Mostra festival, and we can't get enough of her mind-bending (in the true meaning of the word) sets. The latest one, for the Lowless radio show, is yet another brilliance that blurs the lines between genres and is rich enough in detail to offer something new each time the journey is taken. Simply astounding!

So at Draaimolen Festival 2023

The memory of a beautiful sunny morning by the lake at Waking Life when So propelled us into another dimension is still vivid, but now we have this recording from his set at the Draaimolen Festival, which is a story for itself. It's hypnotic and psychedelic techno at its finest.

Wata Igarashi at Rural 2023

This month, another recording from the Rural Festival is on our list, from the one and only Wata Igarashi. Shy of three hours, this mix is a techno energizer in which Wata doesn't go into "lower gear" for a moment and keeps the pace "in orange" throughout the journey.

Vardae - MNMT 393

The Frenchman, Vardae, is back on our list with another mind-bender. This incredible artist has put a bar quite high with his output, and each new offering is welcomed with excitement in our HQ. His latest mix for Monument is an otherworldly experience that unfolds smoothly from low-slung and halftime into fast-paced, energetic techno spiked with a bit of trance in moments.

Mod.1 at Nitsa Club, October 28, 2023

The art of warm-up DJ is sacred, and we at Delayed have the utmost respect for DJs who do it properly. Barcelona's Mod.1 takes his opportunity to open the dancefloor of the infamous Nitsa with both hands. Appropriately paced storytelling is the ideal way to describe an excellent warm-up set, and that's exactly what this set is. Who knows, knows.
